Jennifer Brimley

Current Position – Imperial College hospital, a tertiary ILD centre in London. (St. Marys, Hammersmith and Charing Cross).

Clinical Work – Jennifer runs three nurse-led clinics with a focus on pharmacological management, patient education, symptom management, needs assessment, palliative care introduction and transplant discussion.

Jennifer conducts two virtual clinics each week, a scheme introduced to reduce the clinic burden on patients.

Jennifer has also implemented home visits for her more severe patients who are no longer able to feasibly get into clinic for appointments and is aiming to build upon a more integrated approach.

Jennifer also runs a busy advice-line via telephone and email.

Reviewing in-patients is also part of her role. Jennifer will perform a respiratory assessment, devise an agreed plan with the team and look at oxygen needs.


Teaching – Jennifer is currently working alongside Boehringer-Ingelheim in a project called OPAL whereby she helps to promote awareness and provide education to her peers across London.

Jennifer also runs a pulmonary fibrosis support group at St. Mary’s hospital. Teaching and supporting patients is essential to her role.

Additionally Imperial is now affiliated with sarcoidosis UK. Which Jennifer is the nurse representative providing education from a respiratory perspective at their support groups.


Professional/Public Activity – Jennifer holds a PGradCert in respiratory nursing (and one in cardiac nursing) and is working towards a MSc in respiratory practice.

Jennifer is participating in Trekfest later this year and will be walking 50kms in the Peak District in aid of Action Pulmonary Fibrosis.
