Welsh ILD – Interdisciplinary Network May 2016

This month saw the first meeting of the Welsh ILD-INN at Miskin Manor. The meeting was attended by nurses and allied health professionals from health boards across Mid and South Wales and will hopefully be a catalyst to the development of a Welsh regional network   for health care professionals working with patients with ILD. This is just the start of what is intended to become a collaborative, supportive, information sharing group.

The group would like to thank Dr Ben Hope- Gill Consultant Respiratory Physician Cardiff & Vale UHB for presenting on the CANOPY trial. . The program also included a presentation by Julie Hocking ILD Nurse on the challenges of current treatments for IPF followed by a group discussion and sharing of experiences. Most importantly there was also time to meet each other and plan the way forward. Future suggested agenda items include Pulmonary rehabilitation in ILD; Palliative Care; Histopathology; Case Studies; Transplant; Drugs used to Treat ILD; Advanced Care Planning. The group decided to meet bi annually and rotate the location of future meeting along the M4 corridor.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday 10th November 2016 in Swansea. If you are interested in attending check the regional page for further details closer to the date.

Thank you also to Boehringer Ingelheim for supporting the meeting.
